An experienced Gastroenterologist and Internist, Dr. Paul Hornberger has practiced medicine for over 20 years in the Santa Rosa, California, area. Dr. Hornberger currently serves as Board Member and owner of Digestive Health Consultants and as Medical Director of the Endoscopy Center of Santa Rosa, joining both in 2009. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis, and inflammatory bowel disease. His most commonly performed procedures include biopsies and endoscopies of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, and large bowel. Dr. Hornberger also frequently performs colonoscopies, stomach irrigation, and esophageal dilation.
Licensed in California, Dr. Paul Hornberger was board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine in 1991. He went into private practice with Dr. Richard Auld following his certifications and worked in private practice for over 10 years. Prior to his current positions, Dr. Hornberger held executive positions as Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital and as Board Member and owner of the Gastroenterology Associates of Sonoma County.
Dr. Paul Hornberger received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester in New York. Prior to obtaining his M.D., he received a Master of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Anthropology. Following graduation from medical school, Dr. Paul Hornberger completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center and a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, California.
Dr. Paul Hornberger still resides in Sonoma County in California. Married with two sons, he and his family moved to the Santa Rosa area in 1991. In his spare time, he enjoys art, drawing, and reading. To stay fit, Dr. Hornberger is also an avid biker and swimmer.
